Notary Public
At Forecast Consulting, we are proud to have an experienced Notary Public on our team. A Notary is a senior attorney who has obtained additional qualifications and is legally empowered to draft, witness, and authenticate a wide range of important legal documents.
Our notarial services include:
- Drafting and registering ante-nuptial contracts (ANCs).
- Preparing and authenticating notarial deeds, including servitudes and long-term leases.
- Certification and authentication of documents for use in South Africa or abroad.
- Apostille services, ensuring your documents are legally recognised in foreign countries.
With precision, integrity, and a strong understanding of South African and international requirements, our Notary ensures that your documents are valid, enforceable, and compliant with all legal standards.
What is a Notary
A notary (or notary public) is a legally authorised official who serves as an impartial witness to the signing of important documents. Their main role is to help prevent fraud by verifying the identity, willingness, and awareness of the people signing a document.
Notaries are admitted attorneys who have completed additional qualifications and are appointed by the High Court. They’re authorised to:
- Draft and authenticate certain documents (like ante-nuptial contracts).
- Notarise documents for international use, which can then be apostilled.
What a Notary Does
- Verifies identities of signers using official documents like passports or IDs.
- Witnesses signatures on legal documents (contracts, affidavits, powers of attorney, etc.).
- Confirms that signers understand what they are signing and are doing so voluntarily.
- Attests or certifies copies of original documents.
- Administers oaths or affirmations for sworn statements.
