We help you legalise South African documents for use abroad — correctly, efficiently and without delays.
What Is an Apostille?
An Apostille is an official certificate that confirms the authenticity of a signature, stamp or seal on a South African public document. Apostilles are used only for countries that are members of the Hague Convention.
Once apostilled, your document is legally recognised in the destination country without further embassy legalisation.
What Is Authentication?
If your document is going to a non-Hague country, it requires Authentication, often followed by embassy legalisation.
In these cases, the document is verified by:
- A Notary (where required)
- The High Court or DIRCO
- The relevant embassy or consulate
Why Notarisation Matters
Documents that carry a notarial seal are widely recognised as authentic and legally valid.
Notarisation provides:
- Legal validity in South Africa and internationally
- Verified identity and consent of signatories
- Protection against fraud or document alteration
- Acceptance by foreign authorities, embassies and institutions
