What happens if we get married without an ANC?
You're automatically married in community of property. That means one joint estate, so you share all assets and all debts, including any debt your partner brings into the marriage. Changing it later needs a court application, which costs far more than an ANC.
With or without accrual, which one is right for us?
With accrual, you each keep what you bring in, and you share the growth of your estates during the marriage. Without accrual, everything stays completely separate. We go through real examples in your consultation so you can decide together.
How long does it take?
About a week from your consultation to signing. Express clients sign in 1 to 2 working days. Registration at the Deeds Office then takes around 4 weeks, but your ANC is valid from the day it's signed as long as it's signed before the wedding.
Can we sign from another city?
Yes. Our Online ANC uses a Power of Attorney. You sign on a WhatsApp video call, a courier collects the documents, and our representative signs the ANC on your behalf.
What do you need from us?
Copies of both IDs or passports, proof of address, your wedding or lobola date, and divorce orders or death certificates if either of you was married before.
We already have a drafted ANC. Can you just notarise it?
Yes, as long as the draft meets Deeds Office requirements. Send us a copy and we'll review it first. Notarising it costs R850, and lodging and registering it at the Deeds Office costs R1,500, including the R550 Deeds Office fee. For a little more, we can do the whole process for you.
Why not just use a cheaper online template?
An ANC sets the rules for everything you own and owe for the rest of your marriage. A template can't tell you whether accrual suits your situation, and mistakes only show up when it matters most. We draft yours properly the first time.
