Apostille or authentication? It depends on the country. Countries in the Hague Convention accept an apostille. Others need authentication and then embassy legalisation. Tell us where it’s going and we’ll take it from there.
Where Your Document Goes Depends on the Country
South Africa signed the Hague Apostille Convention of 1961. For member countries one apostille is enough. For the rest, there are a few more stops, and we handle each one.

Apostille Questions
What is an apostille?
An apostille confirms that the signature, seal or stamp on a South African document is genuine. Countries in the Hague Apostille Convention accept it without any further embassy legalisation.
Should I use the High Court or DIRCO?
The High Court route is faster, 1 to 3 working days, and suits notarised documents. DIRCO takes 1 to 2 weeks and suits original public documents like Home Affairs certificates. Some institutions ask for one specifically, so we check first.
How does the same day urgency fee work?
You pay the normal service fee for each document, plus one urgency fee of R1,800 for the whole order. Eight documents means eight service fees and a single urgency fee.
My country isn't in the Hague Convention. What then?
Your document is authenticated instead, then legalised at that country's embassy. We handle each step and tell you the total cost upfront.
Can I send my documents from another city?
Yes. Courier the originals to our Sandton office. We send scans as soon as they're done and courier the originals back to you.
Why was my document refused?
DIRCO only accepts genuine originals signed by an authorised official, and won't accept laminated documents. Send us a photo first and we'll tell you if yours will pass.
Send a Scan. We'll Tell You Exactly What It Needs.
